Vince the Voodoo Doll by Olive-Owl Vince the Voodoo Doll by Olive-Owl
Welp, this was the project I mentioned in this deviation! [link]

Wanted to make a plush version of Voodoo Vince, and I'm very surprised I never got around to it earlier. He's life-size to the character in the game (stands approximately 10 inches tall) and the inside of his arms and legs have wire within them, so he's fully posable and can interact with environments like I've shown here. I was trying to find burlap fabric too so that he'd be made of the same material in-game, but I couldn't find the right colour burlap for his main skin so I used felt fabric instead.

Had a lot of fun making him! Enjoy!

Done in felt fabric, various textured fabrics, modelling wire, foam, super sculpey, acrylic paint and cotton.
Vince belongs to to Clayton Kauzlaric / Beep Industries.

So many memories....

Why did the final boss have walkways and platforms coming out of it?
I never figured it out...

I wish I knew. Platformers always have this special ability to just have magically place steps and structure/floating islands for you to jump or walk to. Either that, or Kosmo didn't think of the blueprints very well for the final level.

Knowing him it'd probably be the second option.

Ten years later, and that withering glare from a jerkass in burlap lost none of its impact.

Oh wow, it has been 10 years hasn't it? Lost track on how old the game and Vince was. ._. Yeah, this character and the art within the game still remain inspiring to me.

God i loved Voodoo Vince when i was in high school. It was my first official game that i ever played on the Xbox, and i was in absolute love with it. The music, the world-man i wanted to live in that world, with all it's unique style and jazzy music. And running around as a voodoo doll made it all the better. Oh so many nostaglic feels~

Anyway, rant aside, I love this doll. You did a fantastic job

I definitely get the same nostalgic vibe whenever I start playing the game myself. Ended up finding a couple music tracks to recall some of the levels and memories from it too. Always a pleasure to see more Voodoo Vince fans! Glad you enjoy the doll and thank you very much for the comment. :)

This is beautiful! I adore him and he was very under-appreciated.
I would give up all of my limbs to own something so wonderful! <33

Thank you so much! It's unfortunate how under-appreciated his game was. I loved everything from the environment, to the scripting of this voodoo-obsessed platformer. Makes me happy to hear there are others who are familiar with the series.

Your Voodoo Vince doll looks amazing! If you look at mine, I used real burlap and well, it's sorta falling apart. XD oh well! More stitching for me! LOL

I apologize for the late response, but thank you very much! Kudos for using and trying out real burlap for your plush of Vince. Couldn't get my hands on the right colour so regular felt fabric had to do for me. PX

I'm glad to see another Voodoo Vince fan. Thanks for the comment!

Same. I was lucky to get a copy of the game before it disappeared. Still play it every now and then when I've got the time.

HOW DO YOU. WHAT. FAKDLAMFS.

I'm FOREVER AMAZED at how you make these things. Seriously. WHAT. I think it's so fantastic that you just sit down and work on something like this and make it so ACCURATE no less! I don't know much about the character/game but I think this is a great representation of him.

HNNNNNNGGG.
YOUR REACTION MADE MY DAY.

Thank you! I think it really helps with the fact that he's normally a plush doll with visable stitching, but I'm very happy with the outcome.

This looks SO great! I'm so impressed by how well-constructed this plushie is. I think it's his expression that really gives him life and personality (beautiful eye, too)

I'm actually kind of glad you didn't use burlap for this, since looking at how great he turned out with felt, he might have looked less well-constructed if you'd used burlap.

He looks lovely either way! A little bored and unimpressed, but lovely. >U<

Thank you! I've really started to focus more on the construction work on my sewing ever since I made the Discord head for my cosplay. Having materials like super sculpey at hand really helps with segments like the eye and button!

You think so? I know the felt fabric really helped form parts of him like his ears nicely, but I was so determined to get him as accurate as his game-self (so basically, getting the textures down!).

Thanks! I felt the expression was very in-character of him, so it works nicely that he's unimpressed. c:

I was actually contemplating it, but I don't think this video game character is popular enough to attract a sales-base or crowd. If someone was interested in buying him, I'd be more than happy to make another one. Had fun making this guy so I don't see why not.

That is a rather amusing plushie. XD
Although about half of it was the presentation  I love the one where he's looking over the fence. :D
That's awesome he's fully posable too. Real excellent detail.
But no burlap the right color? :o Wow.

Thank you! I think throwing him into the different situations really brought him to life. I'll probably need to do this more often if I make any other plushies in the near future. Him looming over the fence is probably one of my favourites too. :XD:
The burlap I kept finding was either the blue colour that I used for the top right of his head, or it was too deep a brown to use as his main skin tone. He's got a pretty bright colour scheme whenever you see the character during the daytime, so I had to stick with the felt fabric I picked up here. I can get pretty picky when it comes to colour sometimes. :P

Brings about his personality well too XD
It's like the spying neighbor. O_o

Aw bummer...probably be a big pain to dye it the right color too. Well, the felt still gives a slight scraggly look to it so it's a pretty good compromise XD

Yeah! The 10-inch tall spying neighbour. 8I

Yeeeah. Dying it wouldn't have been very effective. I would've had to bleach it too since the burlap colours were too dark to the colour I needed. Sounds a bit too much of a hassle for me so the felt is going to stay put for this. =p

That's kind of a creepy thought O_o

Oh bleaching would've been a pain. >.< Yeah. Felt's the way to go in that case xD

And no, not really. Didn't seem very fond of me throwing him into different scenarios. I had other photo ideas too, but it was hard to take pictures of the ones I wanted in the area I was in.

Thank you! It's nice to be able to sew a character that's normally a plush or doll. Seems like it's much easier to make it look accurate to the original!
